KOIN TV in Portland, Oregon, launched the 10-Episode Series called Kids Speak Out: Oregon
featuring a town hall-style discussion with kids expressing their views on homelessness, drug
use, social media, mental health, and other major issues in our community.
National reporting reveals very high rates of suicide and depression among our youth. Besides
the normal ups and downs of childhood and adolescence, our young people face growing
concerns about social media, mass violence, natural disasters, and political polarization which
can feel insurmountable. But who is really listening to our kids about their fears, hopes, and
dreams.
Hosted my Emmy Award winning journalist Barbara Harrison, in partnership with Oregon
Harbor of Hope, and W. Glen Boyd Charitable Foundation, the series can be watched by clicking
on the links below, or by searching YouTube Kids Speak Out Oregon on your computer.
Stay tuned for Kids Speak America early 2024!
